mumof4 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 This has been covered before...and i dont think that we came up with any concrete way of testing it!!.. You could try as has been suggested before..lock the car with a child/wife/partner/spouse/whatever in it..and get them to move around and see if it goes off!! Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 not all had an alarm fitted as standard. Mine didnt and it's ghia x spec. Look to see if you have any visible IR detectors inside the vehicle. Common place is in the B pillar trim above the seat belt housing. The light in the door is for the immobiliser, not an alarm. NikpV Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 IR detectors inside the vehicle. Common place is in the B pillar trim above the seat belt housing. I believe they are Ultrasonic (Ford calls them volume alarm sensors) The light in the door is for the immobiliser, not an alarm. IIRC it does have some alarm/locking type indicator functions Quote

gregers Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 look under the passenger seat at the module,i was told if it had 3no big blocks coming out of it then you have a alarm if 2 then you have imobilzer,i always thought that if the red light is flashing then the pats system wasnt set properly,do a search its been coverd loads and check your manuel Quote
Vanbursta Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Easy to test the alarm. 1) Wind down drivers window2) Sit in the drivers seat3) Lock the car using the lock on the drivers door through the open window4) Wait 40 seconds5) Pull the bonnet release cable If the alarm sounds you have one, if not then you don't or there is a fault. Guest 3.5bullet Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 first off do you actually have the OE alarm fitted? easiest way to check is to look for the sensor houseings on the B pillars or for the switch on the passenger side bonnet hinge? if you dont have these then you dont have the OE alarm and the door LED is flashing to show either the the condition of the PATS system or the dead locking guys we've been down path before :( several pages of posts on how do I test the alarm? the first question we should be asking is? do you actually have an alarm? and then suggest ways of checking for it's operation! :D once we know the answer is yes!
